I Never Thought I’d Be Talking About This

June 2, 2007 at 5:55 pm (Rants)

I was really bored today, and so I decided to use the little button at the top of the blogger website, “Next Blog.” It’s a cool little button, cause it randomly takes you to another blog. Well, I’m not so sure how random it is, but it seems pretty random, especially because if you keep hitting it from the same blog, it’ll take you to other different blogs, though sometimes you will run into repeats.

Anyway, I came across a couple of interesting ones, though most were either really boring or in another language. Lots of French, not so many Spanish, and a few Arabic and Russian, I believe. O, and some German and Oriental ones. I think it’s pretty cool that a site like Blogger is used all over the world – it really shows how small our world is getting. And some of the blogs I found were like this one, just someone typing out their thoughts, some were business oriented, some were just glorified picture albums, and a lot more than I would have expected use video. It really was an interesting experiment in internet culture, if you will.

And now that I’ve finished avoided the topic that you have been wondering what I never thought I’d be talking about, here it is: porn. Apparently, Blogger is the place to go for some free porn. I found about 5 porn blogs in only 5 to 10 minutes of surfing. I was disgusted. Horrified. Repulsed. Revolted. Appalled. I could obviously go on. Some were obviously for money, while one was a couple showing off how much sex they have, and another was simply pictures from a nude beach. I just thought this was/is so wrong and disgusting! I believe there are laws against this sort of thing! I mean, when I turned 18, people were joking about how I can now look at porn, so isn’t there some law that says that you must, at the very very least, have some disclaimer that says that you must be at least 18 to view these images??? If I came across these as innocently as I did, who is to say that some little kid won’t come across them and be traumatized for life? Yes, I admit that is a bit extreme, but it’s not totally out of the realm of possibility. There really needs to be some way for Blogger to ask people if they are putting inappropriate material up on their blogs, so that those who shouldn’t or don’t want to see it, can’t.
